Personal Photos

This photo is on campus over by the pool. It must have been at noon or close to it because the sun was directly above the panels of the "roof" over this patch of cement. I really like this picture because of the lines made by the shadows and the contrast between the light on the cement with the dark lines above.
This picture was taken down at the Pearl! I like it because of the light coming through the windows draws attention to them but the light under the door bleeds through that little crack which makes a cool effect on the ground as well.

  1. In your first photo, the lines cast by the oning give the frame an extreme sense of depth. It reminds me of a brain teaser, how captivating the shadows are. In contrast, the second picture is very ominous. The two isolated circles of lights remind me of two glowing eyes, and with the rest of the photo dimly lit, there's a sense of life given by the bleeding light from behind the doors.

  2. The second photo is very intriguing. I agree with what you said about the lighting. The brick provides contrast with the bright light. It really has an enticing effect. Its looks like a doorway to heaven or something.

  3. The second photo is pretty cool, reminds me of a scene from a horror film. The light gives off this bright but ominous glow promoting intrigue and terror at the same time.

  4. In the first photo, I really like how the boards give an entirely new layer to the picture. It also frames the focal point of the picture well and provides a great contrast of shadow and light on the cement.

  5. I really enjoy the first photo, it reminds me of a drawing exercise where you draw a single point, then extend lines from that point for depth perception. The shadow cast by the beams almost mirror the beams themselves, giving a very nice symmetry on the image.

  6. The shapes of the shadows in the first photo are really cool, and shows the perspective of the entire area. I really like how intense the sunlight is, making the shadows clearly defined.
The second photo shows how almost liquid light really is--it is ready to burst and pour out of those doors as soon as they open!
