Directional Lighting

What I enjoy in this photo is how the lighting lights certain parts of the woman's body while making a silhouette of the rest of it. It adds a mysterious yet artistic tone to the entire photo. Then the background makes the scene more modern-day.

The lighting in this photo is the same as the first, but it has a different story behind it. With the light revealing the man's sweaty face, the veins popping out of his arms, and the wood shavings around him, the photo as a whole shows struggle and determination.

  1. I dig the second picture, the directional lighting in it symbolizes that when it comes to a man and its work, nothing else matters.

  2. I really like the second photo too. I think that the lighting helps show the man struggling and working hard on what it is he is doing. The light also helps you see the determined facial expression he has as he works on his project.

  3. The way the woman's posed makes me think of a statue. The light cast upon her that creates such severe highlights and shadows reinforces that statuesque look. It highlights just enough of the woman's body to create the curvy shape but puts the rest of the body in shadow to evoke mystery.
