This is picture taken by myself at the pyramid chichen itza in Mexico. I took it during a night tour of the pyramid. The only light in this picture are the moon and red light shining from the base of the pyramid which create a very eerie/spooky mood.

  1. This photo definitely shows lighting creating a mood. The red color used to illuminate the pyramid gives it a very powerful and ominous appearance. It makes it interesting to the eye. The moon brings it back to a terrestrial view, in my opinion. Since the light is used to focus attention on the pyramid, it can seem like its almost floating. The moon is a familiar light source that helps establish a setting in this case.

  2. This photo does a great job of giving the pyramid a very important, yet isolated feel to it. The red color of the pyramid gives it a very strong and dominant looking stance.

  3. I think it is significant that there are shadows created in the corners where the steps of the pyramid meet each other. The moon almost looks like a star or a regular light in this image. The red color reminds me of blood.

  4. It's interesting that the moon is in the picture because it almost implies it is the light source of the pyramid, but by the shadow and by what is lit up, we can tell that is not the case. Also as what's been mentioned, the red being the only color in the picture gives an ominous feeling.
