This lighting is really really cool because not only do we get the lamp lighting but we also get a supernatural lighting. The halo emanating off the back of Jesus's head reflects onto the wall giving us a feeling that not only does Jesus have light on him, metaphorically he is the light.
The use of the lamp as a light source in this painting is fantastic! My favorite part of the whole painting is the light cast on the non-Jesus character's face. While the light illuminates Jesus' face and creates few shadows on the front plane of his face, the other man's face has cast shadows on his face that give him a more sinister, disturbing look.
