The Sun in the background provides a bright, centered light that gives the trees shadows. From that sunlight, we can notice most of the colors in the images, although some of the tree are silhouettes. It is almost as if the Sun is looking at you.
This shows a sunset, or dawn of this rock. The light shining on this big chunk of rock gives a message of power. There is a darkness on the right side of the rock which indicates that the light is coming from the left. The clouds are slightly darker in the distance, giving a sense of doom in the distance.

  1. I really like in your first photo the way the light is streaming through the trees causing shadows making it look like the trees themselves are longer.

  2. I love the way light draws the attention to the rock in the bottom picture. It really emphasizes it as a focal point. Color is also very interesting in that picture, the sky in the background is a glowing blue making the orange rock pop because they are complimentary colors. Both photos show how compelling natural light can be.

  3. In the first photo, I like how the light against the trees creates lines that look almost like paths. It almost makes you want to follow the light to see what you can explore beyond the trees.

  4. In the second photo, the lighting helps draw the viewers attention to what is already an extremely obvious chunk in the frame. Even if it were not illuminated by the light, obviously most people would still look at it, but with the lighting the way it is, it really enforces where to look. It is much like how one uses a bold font when they want a specific word to stick out, even if it was already written in all caps.
