I think this picture conveys a dark, mysterious mood through the use of shadows and gobos. I like the way the gobos on the walls blend with the actual color of the wall to create a nice wash that is very subtle and aesthetically pleasing. Also, the silhouettes of the people create a very mysterious mood.
I think this pictures conveys a very sad and longing mood. The fact that the only black and white are used in this scene help reinforce the mood.  Also, the use of side lights and shadows add another layer of texture to the scene to convey a mood.

  1. I believe that both photos establish a mysterious tone then the colors used adds more to that tone. For the first photo, the silhouettes create the mood, but the amber lighting gives me the feeling that it's a mystery based on events in the past. With the second photo, the shadows and the people at the window make it scene mysterious, but the black and white feature gives it a more gloomy tone.

  2. I feel like all of the people in these pictures are fighting or just sad in general. The first lighting seems to have a lot of tension because of the light coming from below instead of from above like how most lights shine. The second picture is really sad and lonely because of the use of whiter light which is much harsher and bluer and colder.

  3. I'm curious to see how different the second picture would be in terms of mood if it wasn't in black and white. It already has a similar vibe to the first picture. The lack of light source also adds to the mystery of the scene and to the rawness of what is going on. I wouldn't be surprised if there was no gel used for the fixture.

  4. The second picture is great because the mood is clearly alone, and empty. This is characterized by the lone light shining on the set which contrasts and compliments the couple. its a contrast in the sense that there is one light but two people, but it is a compliment in that even when not alone, a person in a group can feel alone.
