This picture gives a very creepy mood by utilizing the backlight to outline the characters and shadows.
This picture gives a very romantic mood again utilizing backlight of the bed. The low lighting and soft blue lighting also give it a feeling of warmth even though these are cool toned lights.
I really like the first picture you chose. The use of shadows and silhouettes adds a layer of spook spook to the scene. Also, i like the use of gobos on the walls to add texture to the scene.
ReplyDeleteI think the second photo is really intruiguing because it looks like the light is coming off of the furniture itself. I believe they are little strip lights attatched around the edges of the furniture but it looks like glow in the dark which is something I hadn't considered as a lighting source before
ReplyDeleteThe silhouettes against a warm background in the first image is super powerful. The actual source of the light is almost indistinguishable, making it sot of creepy. Added to that fact are the faceless, blank figures featured in the scene. Without lighting any of the people, it instantly becomes creepy and impersonal.
ReplyDeleteThe overwhelming darkness in the first design creates a strong sense of mystery onstage. The amber glow of the back light beautifully puts the actors in silhouette, keeping the audience in suspense. The second design feels electric, I could see it working for either a dream or futuristic set.
