The reason I liked the lighting in this video is because you can see how many lights are required to get a clean wash that leaves very little shadow. The spinning blue lights add atmosphere to the dance area, and the movement makes the dance look more crowded and chaotic, which is what the dance is definitely going for.
The dance was giving off a fun party vibe, and I think the lights definitely complimented that. The LEDs were changing between bright, intense colors like blue, red, and green. At one point when the lights were blue, there was a slow strobing effect too. The dancers were mostly lit with frontlights to make sure all the dancers could be seen, but that backlights helped keep the party feeling going.
I agree with you about this perspective giving us insight on just how many lights are needed to have a nice wash. I also like how the lights circle around the performers, however, i wish we could also have a view from above to see how the lights looks on the performers.
I really like the background in this video because it highlights the red and blues in the dancers and like previously said, gives off a fun party vibe. I also think the moving lights on the floor highlight the dancers and add to their movements.
