In this video there are not very many lighting changes, but I think they were still successful. There is an emphasis on the dancers, so there are follow spot lights that follow the Caterpillar and Alice. I think the blue wash gives a mystical feeling to the dance. I think it is interesting because there is enough light to see the faces and expressions of the dancers which makes the dance more interesting and exciting.
I like how the blue wash stays consistent throughout the dance. I agree that it makes it seem like they're in a different world. I think the spotlights are effective in letting the audience know where they need to focus. The spotlight could also kind of show who is in power in this dance, because it mostly follows the male dancer around until the female dancer starts dancing as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you've said about the blue wash and the spotlights. They do add to the mystery and wonder in the story. I think the lights shining from offstage also helps with that sense go magic because they make the background dancers look as if they just appeared out of nowhere.
