Dance Lighting Video

I think the lighting in this video is very interesting as it starts out with the dancers in lighting boxes and the lighting gradually changes the mood of the room as the music changes. I also think the large amounts of side lighting adds another layer of depth to the dancer itself. When the dancers come all the way upstage, they are no longer illuminated other than the outline of their bodies.

  1. Part of me wonders if there is some kind of "breaking free"story with the box lights and all of the dancing they do with the colored lighting. I like what you've pointed out about how you only see the dancer's bodies when they're closer to the audience. Also, I'm not sure if it was intended, but it's pretty cool how the lights on the side create shadows on the opposite sides. It makes the performance more childlike.

  2. Could there be a significance to the dancers not being properly lit when they move all the way to the front? To me it seems that this was not planned out since multiple dancers do this. Other than that, I really enjoy the gradual change in color. They took advantage of the capabilities of LEDs. They creates a mood along with the music and compliments the costumes as well.
